How Massive List Posts Can Drive High Traffic to Your Blog

by Alex on November 2, 2009

List posts are by far the easiest type of posts to get viral. They are easy to read, and usually have an enormous amount of information in them. And for whatever reason it is, people like sharing them more than a regular article you do. This is why you need to pump out these giant list posts for your blog.

Over at Blogussion, we have a couple great lists that have really done a number on our traffic:

Giant list posts with over 100 items in them like ours usually call for a pretty unique experience for your blog readers. We want to get a giant list post like the two above out at least once a month, or every two months just because of how significant they are to our blog.

Some of the benefits these posts have brought to our blog:

  • 100+ Lists to Help you become a better blogger is our most popular post to date and still receives social media attention
  • 169 Ways to market your blog was our most retweeted post with it being tweeted well over 90 times.
  • These lists proved to contain really great content, and as a result we saw jumps in the number of RSS readers the day after each list was published.
  • These posts got a lot of comments and discussion within them, which strengthened our community for sure.

Hopefully this post motivated you to go out and write some list posts for your blog as well!
