The Thesis theme for WordPress has a great feature called the Multimedia Box. What this feature does is allows you to display a list of random images that change on refresh.
In the recent design of Blogussion, we made great use of the Multimedia box in Thesis. We have put a few images into rotation, and we linked those images to articles on the blog that we really wanted to put emphasis on and have people read them.
Using the multimedia box in Thesis to promote older posts that are buried under newer posts is a great way to bring life back to your most useful articles. All it takes to use this feature is a quick banner image, and finding a link to your article.
The benefits we have seen from using this unique feature are:
- More pageviews on older posts
- Discussion brought back up to older posts
- Picked up activity on social media sites
Little changes, yes. But, this feature really makes our site look very dynamic and can bring in some extra traffic. Who doesn’t love traffic?

Or, you have the Headway theme where the Image Rotator leaf rotates images for you, no need to refresh the page. And it can link to either internal or external pages/posts. And best of all, you can place it anywhere you want on the site

Great tip. I didn’t know you could add a link to each image. Super helpful.
