Two Word Domain Names

by Seth W on August 7, 2009

Your name has been either great for you or caused you a lot of pain all of your life.  For instance a name does not create the individual but does help feed into the stereotypes of what that individual is like.

For example, Winston and Winifred sound like an old wealthy couple from England.  Jose Martinez Ramone sounds like someone from Mexico.  Whether these are true or not does not matter, but they are what people think.

So when you choose a blog domain name do you want to be judged poorly?  Or do you want people to think your blog is about something totally unrelated?

First thing is do some research before getting a domain name.  Type and search out your options in Google.  Is someone already using something like that?  Does the search bring up bizarre results?  Doing your homework will help you a lot.

Now that you have done some research make sure to get yourself a short name that is easy to remember.  One word domain names are optimal, but Two word domain names are going to be a lot easier to get.  They still wont be a walk in the park though.

The reason why you want a short name is that it is easy to remember.  You want something that visitors can memorize and come back to.  Make it short and catchy.  Words that start with the same letter are easy to remember like, PartyPolitics.com.  It rolls out of your mouth and is easy to keep in your mind.

To do your best online, make sure your blog means what it is, leaves a good impression, and is at max two words long.  Making it memorable will make all the difference.

(Note: none of the names used are associate with anyone so please remember they are only examples.)
